Postpartum Nutrition

Growing and birthing a baby is an amazing and taxing process and lends to the need for replenishment and nourishment of the post birth body.

With so many hormonal shifts, birth can greatly effect the nervous system which in turn effects digestion and gut function making absorption of nutrients challenging. Warm, easily digested foods make this easier to do in this tender time. Low levels of certain nutrients like folate, vitamin D, iron and omega-3 can mimic symptoms of anxiety and depression. Breastfeeding can also effect levels of calcium, protein and DHA. This is is why it is so important to consume foods rich in all of these things and to give gratitude to your body by giving back.
